Our Sabbath Season of Listening, Waiting, and Honest Discerning

My Red Letter Family,

As we enter a brief sabbath until the end of the year, I want to begin with pastoral transparency:

I am good at studying.

I am good at working.

I am good at planning and pouring myself out.

But I am not naturally good at being still.

Silence doesn’t come easy.

Rest doesn’t feel productive.

Waiting feels like lost time.

But in Scripture, God calls His people into seasons not of producing — but of pausing.

Not of striving — but of listening.

Not of proving — but of being present before Him.

This sabbath is one of those seasons.

Part of this time is dedicated to seeking the Lord on a vital question for the future of Red Letter:

Is God calling my family to serve as the founding pastor family of Red Letter Church?

We are not assuming the answer.

We are seeking it — honestly, slowly, biblically.

And the way God speaks is often through stillness.
